Grammar Fine Arts

What degree(s) do you hold? From what school(s)? What was your area of concentration?

BFA in Art Education from University of Illinois – Champaign, Urbana

What is your previous work experience?

I worked with Abrakadoodle, providing after-school art classes, art summer camps, and art education to elementary students. I loved the art history that was incorporated into each lesson.

Tell us a little about your family:

I grew up in Illinois, and married Aki in 2009. We have two young sons. Their laughter is the highlight of my days!

What do you enjoy about Classical education?

I love that God can be the focus of my art lessons. I like having the ability to incorporate many different subjects and history into art. I have learned and grown each year at ACS and love teaching here!

Why are you interested in teaching in at Austin Classical School? What do you love about students in the grade you’re teaching?

As a teacher of Pre-K all the way through 4th grade, I love getting to see students grow through the years. I love seeing the creativity students bring and the beautiful smiles on their faces when they learn how to do something new.

What do you hope your students will learn from you this year?

I hope my students will get a greater appreciation of and fresh eyes to see God’s beauty all around them. I hope they gain confidence in making things.
